I Am The Ordinary Poem by Abdul Wahab

I Am The Ordinary

Handle me with utmost care
As you handle an egg
or a piece of glass
though I have both of their characters
but I am neither of them

I am very ordinary
With a fragile outside shell
But I hold inside
In my yoke
All the ingredients
Of a good food
For the good health
Of your extraordinary
Powerful
life

if you drop me
treat me with contempt
I can easily break myself
With thousand pieces
Useless
Still if you step
Over me
I am powerful enough
To teach you a lesson
With my shards

When I am more in number
And available to be picked up
by the fragile hands of the street
and march together with fists
though I am an ordinary man
now I am the most powerful.
