I Am Muslim Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

I noticed surprise element
But was forced not to comment
Why is it so necessary to assert?
Claim with loud voice and resent

I read on head gear" I am Muslim"
First it gave me simple impression of logo on him
Then it struck me with something else
Were we loosing our identity or felt it as false?

May be true that I have not come cross many such logos
If that is allowed then there may follow disorder and chaos
Everyone may be compelled to put good show
Assert for self as if they may know no more and grow

Many in my country also claim to be proud Indians
But so many times it is confused with Hindus*
But no one moves with any band over head
I hope it remains simply as symbol to be read

Time has yet not come for us to identify
Demonstrate to world where and how to satisfy?
Let us not poison the minds of children!
As they are the future and assets even

Let them grow in hatred free atmosphere
As there won't be slight scope for fear
They may make it as faith for individual
The rest of the life may be led as casual

We are multi linguist and multi ethnic country
Each one is allowed to profess and pray for almighty
He may go to any worship place and perform faith
There is no such compulsion or fear of death

This is such simple topic but of large consequences
We see and hear many skirmishes and instances
Where they are discriminately killed for want of nothing
Faith had never been the bone of contention for something
