Home And Love

Just Home and Love! the words are small
Four little letters unto each;
And yet you will not find in all
The wide and gracious range of speech
Two more so tenderly complete:
When angels talk in Heaven above,
I'm sure they have no words more sweet
Than Home and Love.

Just Home and Love! it's hard to guess
Which of the two were best to gain;
Home without Love is bitterness;
Love without Home is often pain.
No! each alone will seldom do;
Somehow they travel hand and glove:
If you win one you must have two,
Both Home and Love.

And if you've both, well then I'm sure
You ought to sing the whole day long;
It doesn't matter if you're poor
With these to make divine your song.
And so I praisefully repeat,
When angels talk in Heaven above,
There are no words more simply sweet
Than Home and Love.

    A man may buy a house, but its the woman who turns it into a home with love, sacrifice, hard chores to put the home in order. So {Home} & {Love} are the prerogative of the woman who has tied up with the man to start a family.Its true these two important words_____ Homa & Love are interconnected. Simple byut beautiful poem.

    I have a thick card with the poem Home and Love although it stops at Than home and love. By Robert W Service the front has two trees with a road leading to two homes. Its black and white on the back written in pencil says 1868

    Very nice that he was able to identify these two words out of all of them.
    Personally, I agree that these are the two most 'complete' words out there - purely in their feeling and uncompromising, agreeable adoration. (Report) Reply

    I enjoy the subject of the poem and the basic idea behind each of the lines, but I feel like it could've been worded better. (Report) Reply

    A universal theme; and how poignantly summarised in the opening lines of Verse three 'And if you've both, well then I'm sure/You ought to sing the whole day long; ' (Report) Reply

    successful point of view all of us can feel it all over the ages it can be a theory because the best place u can feel safe is ur home & also love makes u feel safe & the best time u feel safe when u r with ur beloved so i believe that home is love and love is home (Report) Reply

    Words of wisdom from R W S but when poverty comes through the door
    Love often flys out the window. (Report) Reply

I hold with those who favor fire.
