Hasten Slowly Poem by Venkateswaran Krishnan Sreenivasan

Hasten Slowly

Rating: 5.0

Most are in a hurry, only a few go slow;
Racing to their goal, where they don't know
Their aim is to save time to accomplish more
A foolhardy venture that will make them sore

Gulping in haste not relishing the taste
Of savory food that goes waste
Riding a bike at breakneck speed
Unwary of the walker not taking heed

Disturbed sleep at night and feeling tired Napping during the day feeling mired
Moving slowly at snail's pace lagging behind in the day's race

Keep your tongue behind your mind
Spoken words are hard to rescind
Action taken on the spur of the moment
Culminates in mental torment

Sentiment and reason must go hand in hand
When one lags behind, the other takes command
Reason should be seasoned with sentiment
To help you act on the spur of the moment
