Greenest Poem by Vera Sidhwa

Greenest

I saw the greenest pastures
And the same hues on the leaves.
I had to build my house there.
I couldn't take this for granted.

The greenest of green I ever saw
Brought me God blessed tranquility
So I frowned on the tall buildings
And the freeway jams around them.

I saw the greenest evergreens
And their pinecones smelled so fresh.
I saw the world's greenest of greens.
Now I felt the grief of this world.

This world which humanity did not respect.
This world which humanity turned dollar notes green.
Was paying the huge global price
In money dollar notes the greenest of green.
