Goodness Sprouts By Evil In Las Vegas Shooting Poem by Savita Tyagi

Goodness Sprouts By Evil In Las Vegas Shooting

Rating: 5.0

Las Vegas shooting miraculously restored
Faith of millions in great human spirit.
While the bullets were raining down
On crowd so oblivious to death hounds,
Angels stepped in to show true benevolence.

Evil takes a long time to think, prepare
And execute its deadly plan before it
Succeeds to create unimaginable distress.
It brings upon worst kind of horrific suffering
But goodness responds spontaneously.

A mother takes bullets to shield her little child
A father does same to shield his daughter
A husband shields his wife instantly
With wonder in eyes we hear tales of
Strangers extending hands to strangers.

A young man running to escape stops,
Answers call of his heart, as if guided
By some unknown hands of divine.
He turns back to enter war zone like place
To help numerous people to escape.

He gets shot in process but restores
Hope of so many in works of goodness.
For horrified hearts screaming for help
They are the real heroes answering prompt
Calls of goodness to defeat evil instantly.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
In reaction to Las Vegas shooting October 2017. Like million others I too was touched by tales of goodness coming out from this otherwise very sad and cold- blooded massacre.
COMMENTS OF THE POEM

Savita, I think that this is my first exposure to your poetry. If the rest are as good, I'll be returning shortly. You've done a brilliant job with this profound poem. I love the way that you've incorporated the angels into the environ. Evil VS Good with the angels guiding and protecting so many innocents. The only one thing that would have made this poem even better is to have included the person who had risked his life to rush the wounded to the hospital. When CNN interviewed him, he stated that watching the video footage was scarier than the real thing. Maybe, I'll write a poem about him. Thank you for this tribute to the human spirit.

Thank you Richard for your comment. Many stories of goodness have come out of this tragedy. It would definitely be a great tribute to write about the one that you mentioned. I look forward to reading about his heroic efforts in poetry form when you decide to write about it.

WELL, Savita, i wouldn't say evil was instantly defeated, BUT I LIKE THE POEM, and forgot to come back to read it! i'll probably get it into November's showcase. i don't feel like adding to October and if i put yours in now, some people who might have read October will not return and see yours. i don't think it should surprise many that there is good in many people and that especially family members will act to protect 'loved ones', especially to protect 'young loved ones'. if those good things did not happen, the world REALLY would seem to be in 'bad shape'. or i should say worse shape than it is in now. but, maybe we Earthlings won't have much longer to be concerned, as i read a little today online about some people feeling the mega-volcano building under Yellowstone Park may erupt in just a few decades, sending out poisonous gases. maybe it will beat Global Warming to the punch. favorite lines: Evil takes a long time to think prepare And execute its deadly plan before it Succeeds to create unimaginable distress. It brings upon worst kind of horrific suffering But goodness responds spontaneously...................unfortunately, evil does not always take so long to prepare and act. i'll send this to your poem's page as a comment. to MyPoemList bri :)

Thanks Bri for your comment and input. This poem was inspired by instant reactions of people of good will. But it is by no means the only reaction. Good and evil both have many angles and a continuous working atmosphere that we have to live in.

Savita, This poem illustrates where hat all of us of good will need to do as we survey this world- see what is praise-worthy. I find intriguing the idea about evil planning, and the good acting spontaneously. This reminds me of a passage from the Gospel of Matthew chapter 25 where Jesus paints a picture of judgment. When the good are welcomed for their good deeds, they ask, When did we...? I find comfort and kinship in this poem. Glen

A powerful tribute paid to a terrible tragedy, well written.10 I too wrote one, I called it. The night of the “coffin Fly” wrote it a couple of days ago.

Evil takes a long time to think, prepare and attack and this is not at all good for society. Such incidence provokes thought and brings deep sadness in society. We offer our prayer for the deads in Las Vegas for resting in peace. Faith of millions in great human spirit while revives and miraculously restores life again, angels step in to show true benevolence. An amazing poem is shared here...10
