Good Trouble, A Tribute Poem by Hebert Logerie

Good Trouble, A Tribute

This is a tribute for the late Brother Congressman
John Robert Lewis of Georgia, a stalwart man
Who fought for racial justice and equality for all.
Representative John Lewis was a quintessential
Civil rights leader, a resilient and valiant fighter,
Who believed in good trouble and civil disobedience.
Congressman Lewis fought for freedom for everybody.
He was a man of conviction, fairness and honesty,
‘The conscience of Congress', a man of common sense,
Who fought hard, racist beatings and pancreatic cancer.
Mr. Lewis was an avid supporter of the ‘Blacks Lives Matter
Movement'. Our people and the entire world will miss such a
Bright star of hope, a dedicated, brave and tireless soldier,
With Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Jesse Jackson and other
Well known lieutenants who changed the course of the play
After the first intermission. America must change
The course: racism is like COVID-19, a deadly disease that
The world must exterminate. America must change
And systemic racism must be destroyed and abolished flat.
Congressman John Lewis has done plenty, a great deal
For the America he loved. A library is too small to exhibit
His lifetime achievements. We will surely miss a real
Brother, father, uncle, friend and leader with a great spirit.
