There are some good doggone poets
And some infamously terrible writers
The poets express themselves like smart pets
And the basic parts are drowned in errors
That the writers must master as they get older
I ain't talking about slang words, but of grammar
I always try to be as proper as possible
Oh! Yes, nobody is perfect or incomprehensible
I make mistakes too. Please correct me from time
To time. I welcome critics; that's not a darn crime
I welcome good and bad comments, that's how I will
Get better. I persevere with a weak and strong will
Because we write for today and for tomorrow
After we're gone, we'll leave behind praise or sorrow.
