Glances Poem by Marlee Lords

Glances

Rating: 5.0

I could never look at him for very long,
He was too bright,
too beautiful to look at fully,
Just like the sun,

So I took glances at him,
Small subtle glances
that told me so much,

The first glance told me who he was,
A complicated, beautiful man,
One who would never do anything to hurt me,

The second glance I took told me who I was too him,
The only person he wanted forever with,
The woman who he would give everything for,

The third glance I took told me he loved me,
And how he would never love anyone else
The way he loved me

The fourth glance I took pulled me to the mirror we stood by,
It showed his affections reflected back
In my terrified eyes,

The fifth and final glance I took led me back to him,
It told me this is what I had been waiting for,
And that I never wanted this with anyone else.

I once could never bring myself to look directly at him,
He seemed to be the sun and the stars,
bright, brilliant, and fiery,
I became his moon.
