Forget Me Not Poem by kolawole ogunfowokan

Forget Me Not

Like a house on fire we built the tension
Saw the wall crumbling
We only never paid attention
How deep words hurt
Killing what we shared at the beginning
Allowing cracks in the wall
While anger kept the door shut

If at all you walk away
Because we finally went astray
Hold on to our memories I pray
For on this I brood all day
Hoping one day we will find our way
And stop running hatred like relay
Exchanging batons of foolishness in dismay

Remember the worth of time we shared
How sincerely deep we cared
Cuddling and calling ourselves in bed
Never giving room to rumour spread
But carefully choosing the path to thread
To follow our dreams wherever we may be led
Gone with the wind it is gone
To a point of no return.

So if ever our path never crosses
Making us count our losses
And unwillingly bear the cross
I pray our memories won’t be filled with dross
And thereby think all hope is lost
Forget me not hold on at all cost
For the little memory we shared

.....Bury that part of me
But forget me not I pray
