Flicker Poem by Yada Richie

Flicker

Whilst hopelessly introducing myself,
A flicker of life danced in the distance
Behind two unknowing eyes.
'Bev's Daughter...'
As the words once again took flight,
I knew they had already dissolved
Into the cruel mist clouding her mind.
Only to reform as a brazen child,
Sipping cooled tea from an elegant saucer.
In a place where sweet heather hangs thick
Amongst long lost people warming beside that flicker.
