Firewalking Poem by George Hunter

Firewalking

As I was walking home one day
I met a man from Mandalay.
....He did a lot of talking
....About how he was into firewalking.
And here’s what he had to say
.
One day I had the desire to meet
The challenge of walking the coals, so neat.
....I started out fine
....Just taking my time
And wasn’t even burning my feet.

But someone threw me a token
And my concentration was broken.
....My feet they started to burning
....And there was no back-turning
..I said By Gosh, By Jeez
..And then I had a great big sneeze
So now I walk around on my knees.

I learned my lesson that day
That the gods you have to pay.
....If you’re in their disfavor,
....They don’t give you a waiver
At least it seems that way, .
