Finding Home Poem by Hazel Durham

Finding Home

Rating: 5.0

Her teardrops is like falling rain pouring down the windowpane,
Her great love is gone because he was hard to tame,
He was much older then her but he still had the sparkle of youth in his eyes,
Like the dawn breaking through the optimistic skies,

His passion was like the sizzling sun
Beating down relentlessly into a fever of fun,
He lived in the past reminiscing about evenings driving back to Connecticut,
On his way home to his beautiful wife who drank to oblivion.

His stories enthralled her with his adventurous life,
He told her he had adored his beautiful, troubled wife,
But she had driven him away to a different life,
Of roaming around like a love vagabond,

In relationships that always fail because he feels like a stagnant pond,
When she first met him they saw the same light in each others eyes,
To cast away the darkness and the lies,
Truth to her was being with him as she cherished his talk.

Down his tree lined avenue they used to bring his dog for a walk,
He made her feel alive in the stories he told,
Like a child at bedtime been read a fairy-tale as the magic unfolds,
Being with him was a quest daringly bold,

But he ran when she voiced her expectations,
Her world crashed like the thundering waves on the beach,
Surging with emotions now out of reach,
She had been sure they sang from the same song,

She knew when they kissed it was like finding home,
A certainty of happiness locked in their tender embrace,
Now she is left damaged and out of the race,
As he travels in a ship across the bay,

Love is lost in the month of May,
With her heart shattered like broken glass falling from above,
She has become a vagabond of love,
Always moving on searching for home,

As lovers try to capture her bleeding heart but without him she is always alone.

The heroine of the poem is still in the clutch of a failed love! She is not able to forget him as he was so charming! His passion was like the sizzling sun Beating down relentlessly into a fever of fun, ..... No wonder she fell for him! Both had a gloomy past and both were vagabonds in love! This identical fate must have drawn them together! But before the love could fruition, he left her shattering all her new dreams! It is a sad story... so touching!

Touching memories of a lost love in loneliness are too painful. A nice description of human sentiments, who can understand such feelings even the victim can't, who can forget a relationship that was based on love, even if it has so many handicaps.

The difference between years of lovers is not important if they have chemistry. It brings everything: Respect, love and duration. Great part of Love...
