Fight On Poem by Robert Mahoney

Fight On

I've watched you fall so far from the heavens
So much has changed since November eleventh
Nowadays you seek out destruction
You seek the path of greatest resistance
You're broken, and dying, and ready to leave the world behind

You tell me that there's nothing left
You're just a shell
And you cannot be saved
You say you've become someone else
You're not yourself
Swept up by the waves
But deep beneath the scar tissue
There lies a shred of hope
You're far from gone
And you are still so strong
Baby fight on, you're so much stronger than you know

I've watched you fight against your emotions
Back and forth you're sick from the motion
You've nearly given up on yourself
But hold on to me I'll save you from this hell
You're broken, and crying, but you can't leave this world behind

You tell me that there's nothing left
You're just a shell
And you cannot be saved
You say you've become someone else
You're not yourself
Swept up by the waves
But deep beneath the scar tissue
There lies a shred of hope
You're far from gone
And you are still so strong
Baby fight on, you're so much stronger than you know

I will not give up on you
I will never leave your side
I'll always believe in you
I'll help you win this fight
I will not give up
I will never leave
I will lift you up
And help you win this fight

You tell me that there's nothing left
You're just a shell
And you cannot be saved
You say you've become someone else
You're not yourself
Swept up by the waves
But deep beneath the scar tissue
There lies a shred of hope
You're far from gone
And you are still so strong
Baby fight on, you're so much stronger than you know
