Falling Helpless Poem by Robert Mahoney

Falling Helpless

falling, helpless, i'm running away
far away from the things i used to live for
falling, helpless, i'm fading away
wasting away, from the emptiness inside
falling, helpless, I'm losing my way
can't find a way, to pull myself together

CHORUS:
WHY? Why?
i reach but i can't take hold
it slips through my fingers again
i ask but i don't understand
i'm left in the dark once again
WHY? Why?
i ask why

falling, helpless, i'm crying again
crying out for all the dreams that i let die
falling, helpless, I'm hiding again
hiding away from the truths that i denied
falling, helpless, i'm drowning again
drowning in a tide of guilt for what i've done

CHORUS REPEAT

never before have i felt so broken, hopeless
i never expected to be falling so helpless
but here i am now, lost and confused
plunging so quickly into the darkness
why is this happening to me?
why? WHY?

WHY? why?
i reach but i can't take hold
it slips through my fingers again
i ask but i don't understand
i'm left in the dark once again
WHY? Why?
