Robert Mahoney Poems

Shifting in and out in constant change
From black to white and back again
So hard to guess whom next you'll be
So unpredictable unpredictable, my Gemini
...

Here we go again; another lie, another day gone by
Without you by my side
Every now and then, a mother cries, another child dies
Fighting the 'good fight'
...

It's cold outside and loneliness spans the rain-drenched miles
Shallow footsteps break the silence of the night
Empty eyes are left behind the shadow of a smile
Thoughts are focused on a single question: Why?
...

Tick tock the clock, don't talk, don't stop
Pace quickens into overdrive
Shake off the shock, No care, no thought
The rhythmic pounding clears the mind
...

The sun has set in the western sky
And the moon with it's silver shine
Begins it's trek across the night
To mark the passing time
...

We have come to rely too heavily
On pretty pills and promises
That no one ever keeps
Breaking down defenses with
...

I have not yet come to terms with this
Toss one back and drift in sleeplessness
One more drink, to cover up the pain
That's all this is
...

You throw on the floor what you don't need anymore
And toss them like a stone, never mind the broken bones.
Justify the senseless death with a false sense of accomplishment,
You found a way to turn blood gold, murder’s always best served cold
...

Have you ever looked in the mirror
Expecting to see yourself reflected in the glass
But a glossy-eyed surprise, a face you just don't recognize
Stands there mocking, staring back
...

Empty Eyes on a Blank Face
You wear your pain upon your face for all to see
and you wonder why i ask if you're alright
you dry your eyes each time before you look at me
...

Out of Sight

I.... could've sworn i heard the calling
...

Time and time again i trusted you
I put my faith in you, each time you let me down
Over and over, you fed me countless lies
Over and over you made me wonder why i even tried
...

I see the man in the mirror and all that he's become
From all that he once was, and all that he has done
He's standing taller now, so determined
He seems so much clearer tha when this had begun
...

14.

It's happening agan, can't think, can't speak, can't even take a breath
Brooding over things I knew I shouldn't do, but did them anyway
All the pain that burns in me is fueled by my regret
Suffering the consequence when price outweighs the gain
...

She closes her eyes and she asks herself
Is it all a lie? Is there nothing else?
Is this all that life can be?
She's sitting all alone
...

She closes her eyes and she asks herself
Is it all a lie? Is there nothing else?
Is this all that life can be?
She's sitting all alone
...

Every second passed without you here
Is a second spent in vain
Though logic tells me you're not near
I feel you just the same
...

afraid to let her go lest she disappear
he's holding on so tight it's bruising her
she's crying out but he doesn't seem to hear
he tries to save it but he only makes it worse
...

Here I am, holding on to shreds of hope
Fighting on as you cut the ropes
Take a look at all of me, see the changes
Girl you've got to believe and remember...
...

I try to play off fearlessness
Confidence and security
The world can't ever know the truth
But you've always seen through the ruse

Robert Mahoney Biography

My name is Robert Mahoney, and I write songs. Lots of songs. All kinds of songs. I love music and I love to write, and when music and lyrics meet and become one, the result is amazingly beautiful. All music has beauty, even the music I may not necessarily like. You'll come to see that I write not only from personal experience, though that is where most of my material comes from, but also from the issues of the world and other things that affect other people. Music is communication at a higher level. I aim to one day reach the masses with a heavenly cacophony of the most striking and awe inspiring chords and quality. Join me in my journey. You just might be amazed. Music is Chaotic Divinity Any and all comments and criticisms are greatly appreciated.)

My Gemini

Shifting in and out in constant change
From black to white and back again
So hard to guess whom next you'll be
So unpredictable unpredictable, my Gemini

Deadly captivation, as you glisten in the night
A red, red apple with a poisonous surprise
One second you're an angel, the next you terrorize
Me with the coldness in your eyes
I can never win, no, I can never win

Shifting in and out in constant change
From black to white and back again
So hard to tell whom next you'll be
So unpredictable, unpredictable, my Gemini

Catalytic tension, no knowing what could set you off
Impossible to tell your current state of mind
You love to crush me, shoot me down, before you tantalize
Me with the promise in your eyes
I can never win, no, I can never, I can never win

Shifting in and out in constant change
From black to white and back again
So hard to tell whom next you'll be
So unpredictable, unpredictable, my Gemini

I can't take this mind f*ck for one second more
I just need to know so tell me, please
Why do you play these games with me, when you know that
I can never win, no, I can never, I can never win

Shifting in and out in constant change, my Gemini
From black to white and back again, my Gemini
So hard to tell whom next you'll be, my Gemini
So unpredictable, unpredictable, my Gemini
