Fence (The Small Divide) Poem by Vera Sidhwa

Fence (The Small Divide)

As I walked through the garden,
Of purple and red flowers,
I saw a long white,
Picket fence.

As I walked along it,
Around it to another,
The next door's fence,
Came in view.

Perhaps from having,
Better wear,
This one caught my fancy.
It seemed to work wonders,
Around the house it was surrounding.

The two picket fences, '
Were playing 'I'm better.'
So I counted the number of flowers,
Each had divided.

And count as I may,
I came up with the same,
So for these two gardens,
The divide was the same.

It was a small divide.
