Fatima Zahra Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Fatima Zahra

They were twins
Both of them seventeen
Such naming their culture

For the new republic
Their city was Tashkent

Half Tatar, half Uzbek
Had to pay an account

Ancestors invaded
Shed blood; paraded

Revenge was obvious
One sister; then other
F was first, Z later
