Father father

Father, father.
Your screams ring in my ears
Everyday
               Your screaming
                                     Gets worse
                What did I do?
I'll never know.
Eyeliner runs down my face
Mixing with these bitter tears

Father, father.
Why do you hate me so much?
What did I do?
                       To make you
                                           Hate me
                        Am I really
That much of a
Disappointment to you?
I guess so or you wouldn't scream

Father, father.
Would you be happy if I was gone?
If I was dead?
                      No longer a
                                        Bother in life
                      No longer a
Worthless
Unwanted daughter,
Then would you be happy?

Father, father.
These scars aren't what you think
Theses scars are for you.
Every scream
                     For every
                                    Single cut
                     Wanting
Death to come
Just to make you happy.
Would you be happy?

Father, father.
How would you feel?
Would you regret it all?
Would you
                  Regret all of
                                      Your rage
                  Becoming
Screams
Screams that pierced my heart
With every word

Father, father.
Would you cry at my funeral?
She'd a single tear over me?
Would you
                Beg for me
                                 To come back?
                Who would
Your rage
Turn too next?
Yourself?

Father, father.
I'm not a perfect little girl.
I'm seventeen now.
I don't need
                  To take your
                                      Shit anymore
                   So now I'll
Go.
I won't be here to bother you anymore
Then will I finally have made
You proud daddy?

poet Paul Laurence Dunbar

The mist has left the greening plain,
The dew-drops shine like fairy rain,
The coquette rose awakes again
Her lovely self adorning.

The Wind is hiding in the trees,
