Faith Poem by Paul WilsonSuffield

Faith

The decorations are up its that time of year
When all good people are filled with cheer.
The presents are wrapped the tree is dressed
Young or old, all are blessed.
The reasons have faded as time went by
But the children need to understand why.
We celebrate annually with presents and gifts
They think it’s just for their spirits to lift.
It all started with a boy born far away
With a secret to tell and to lead the way.
He traveled the land spreading the word
Of his fathers gift that had to be heard.
He cured the sick and aided the poor
But took no payment and slept on the floor
Now some were scared of the things he could do
And decided some sort of punishment was due.
He died a young man and no one can explain
Why the Son of God was crucified and slain.
On the day he was born in every year
Presents are given with good will and cheer
Keep a space in your heart for the pain he went through
For the gift of faith, he has given to you.
