Expectations To Demand Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Expectations To Demand

People have their pets.
With expectations from them to demand.
Parents raise their children.
With expectations to demand.
Many choose their schools.
With expectations to demand.
But expectations to demand,
From those who continually prove...
Themselves to be fools.
Becomes a disappointing time to waste,
When people awaken to realize...
People who may appear and speak
intelligently.
And give the impression,
They are aware of what is expected of
them.
Could care less.
And will do what is necessary,
To effectively do what it is they wish.
With a receiving to get,
Their demands to expect.
Regardless who rejects,
How they have been told where to go.
Or what to kiss.
No matter who thinks,
The doing had been disrespectful.

"Are you blind?
Can you see where I sit?
I demand what it is I expect.
You?
On the other hand,
Just 'fetch' what it is that I request.
Hopefully,
Your ears are clear to here it.
No one is in a position,
To demand from me not a thing.
Understand? "

(what a dangerous ego)

"I heard that.
And you should be glad your opinions,
Are not on my agenda."
