Everlasting Friend Poem by Marie Helene Diop

Everlasting Friend

Painful, dreadful memories
Replay in lost mind
Drowning in sea of confusion

Soft, glowing smile
Loud cheerful voice
Filled sunshine in dreadful days

Loving, caring
Pure heart
Crafted of rich gold
Yet hurting
With pain inside

Deep, chocolate-filled eyes
Told stories
Without sound

Clever role model
Whose creativity
Became life, goals, morals

Time crawls by
Reminiscences fade away
But such horrible nightmare
Will never go away

Haunting sole body
As it sleeps
Taking control of worried mind

But somehow revealing
Magnificent strengths and accomplishments
Determined, bold, motivated leader
Full of gumption
Crawls out of foreign body
Tossing aside old, forgotten
Bodies away forever
All thanks
To an everlasting friend
