Even Though Ordinary Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Even Though Ordinary

Even though ordinary

No one heard me patiently
I was speaking on subject but went unheedingly
I thought the ground is slipping away
But inner voice urged me to stay

I completed my speech
I rubbed face and tried to reach
Glass of water to clear throat
Here some glimpse was caught by people

I had nothing to tell
Or reveal
About the agony and plight
My presentation was little harsh and not sweet

My heart was crying
Many scenes were rushing before eyes
And rushing me to quote more
O was fully involved with feeling so sore

The people may still suffer
The rich nations may send some aid as donor
We shall eat among hungry masses
But what else can we do to address?

I finished with words
But it was realized in the end
My speech was even though ordinary
It moved people in audience and the effect was not imagery
