Drawing Lines Poem by Lisa Webster

Drawing Lines

I had a line
so perfectly drawn
with the greatest of care
I laid it down
in permanent marker
so it wouldn't erase
steady and pressed
onto thin air
And before I knew
the line became jagged
attempted to fix
but it broke in my hands
No turning back now
and I should have known
the line I had drawn
was drawn in the sand.
