Lisa Webster Poems

Standing, looking over a darkened pit
unsure of its depth
or if there's even a bottom to stop my falling
if anyone would be there to catch me
...

two weeks like eternity
I need your arms embracing me
I think of you so sound asleep
an empty space where I should be
...

I’m setting the clock a little ahead
Wearing your clothes and lying in bed
Daydreaming the days that lie ahead
Anything to feel closer to you
...

if you could see inside of me
i bet you'd try to lie to me
to tell me that it's not so bad
that there's no reason to be sad
...

this October night
innocent enough
both you and I wasting time alone
with not yet a companion
...

6.

Lift me up
Pick me apart
Take pieces of me into the sky
Defying gravity just for a second
...

tops of trees ablaze with sunset
storm clouds glowing in discontent
reddish tint, the sky contracts
to swallow life within the clouds
...

Across time and space
My love remained
I tried to replace
But I should have known
...

A bud no longer hidden
Or shadowed from the crowd
But a blossom that is blooming
So colorful and loud
...

I had a line
so perfectly drawn
with the greatest of care
I laid it down
...

too many directions,
not enough focus,
the biggest maze you could ever imagine,
with no certain exits
...

Into The Sky

Standing, looking over a darkened pit
unsure of its depth
or if there's even a bottom to stop my falling
if anyone would be there to catch me
then I turn to what lies above me
I know the sky has no depth
no bottom, no measurement
day by day, it stretches more into eternity
it does not echo,
your voice does not reveberate off any walls
to reinforce your solitude
instead, your utterings linger in its vastness
they are never forgotten
just as you are never forgotten
that is where I long to be
