Desert Poem by Anna Ragin

Desert

I hold no life
The wind, my strife
Molded by things around me
I have nothing, not the sea

To keep me whole
There is no role
Walk by, cursing me

One day I will be
More than expected
No longer barren
The world will finally need me
Finally I will scream

Release my built up rage.
Born into an impossible age
I was made like this
Nature’s death kiss

Cursed me with dunes
Inside each are my ruins
Thoughts taken away by wind
Resentful, never to come back again.

I am barren
I am lifeless
I am waiting
I am…a desert
