Decoys Poem by Birgitta Abimbola Heikka

Decoys

The chameleon
leaned on the lamp post
His designer face
smooth as sherbet ice cream
aimed at me long-lashed eyes;
expectant.
I could not help nature's response
and stared longer than permitted
etiquette.
The reptile gaze
reminded me of a maze;
a fisherman's bait,
I did not take the nip
poisoned.

Thank you Birgitta, for your comment on my poem: Soul's Whispering, glad it soothed your spirit. I enjoyed this poem of yours, it is good that you did not take the bait, you are stronger than the chameleon. RoseAnn
