Isolated from children and grandchildren
Alone in her home
She is forbidden to leave
Fearing the virus will attack her.

Worrying about family
Speaking daily to them on the telephone
Trying to keep spirits bright and hope alive
Hiding her terror of the unseen enemy.

She begins to cough
Has a fever and finds it hard to breathe
An ambulance takes her to hospital
Where doctors and nurses fight to save her life.

Alone without family
She dies another victim of the epidemic
One among the millions
Losing the battle to survive.
