Dead Weight Poem by Tina P..

Dead Weight

The weight of an anchor holds the ship in place.
Not letting it drift back, and stopping it from racing ahead.
Peaceful doves dropp tiny hints,
Telling the captain to go forward and leave the anchor behind.
The captain tries to let go, but it’s apart of the ship.
The only way to break it off is to cut so deep into the chain.
They only way to unattached the ship is to endure pain.
This captain is strong enough to get through.
Shedding a tear when watching the anchor sink to the bottom, then turning around she stands tall.
The captain looks over all her crew, baring gifts so personal.
She looks ahead and sees the island she is destined for.
The captain knows right then,
Everything is alright.
