Dalit, What Does The Word Mean It? Poem by Bijay Kant Dubey

Dalit, pada-dalit,
Trodden, downtrodden, crushed,
Neglected, sidetracked, oppressed and suppressed,
Who were those crushed under feet,
Who bore the brunt of,
Why wee they,
What were the faults of those bearing it,
Suffering and struggling to live?
Was it an exploitation of some sort,
Was it inhuman?
Who is guilty?
Our caste-system and social order,
Our old mind-set and poor living
Or our patriarchy and conventions?
How to understand the crux of the matter reasonably
And explain it without any bias or prejudice
Without doing any politics?
