Come Home Poem by Autumn Christina Adair

Come Home

I stand there at your resting place
Thinking of how times have changed
As my mind delves deeper into thought
I’m dragged to my knees in submission
Admitting the pain that has held me captive
Begging and pleading for a second chance
For all the mistakes and hurt to be corrected
For all my strength and self worth to be returned
So that others can enjoy my smile again
The smile that you placed upon my face
The face that weathered when you left
The armoured heart that wasn’t so bullet proof
For this war within to be non existent
For the one I long for and love to come back
Even for a minute, maybe just a second
To see your face smiling back at me
To never let go, to live forever
To just be mine again
