Take Cover Poem by Autumn Christina Adair

Take Cover

Imprisoned in a deep wallow
My throat narrows, I cannot swallow
The taste of this pain is crying for conclusion
I cannot abide, tormented by confusion

Listening to these words slip from my tongue
I can bare it no more, what have I become
Razor ripping remarks repulse my wrath
Obstacles constantly changing my path

Can one not be at peace for a little while
Put the past behind me and just smile?
Momentarily forgetting the aches and breaks
My armoured soul cannot take another shake
