Cold Then Hot Poem by George Hunter

Cold Then Hot

There was a young gal from Maine
Whom the cold nearly drove insane
—It was so cold up there
—Froze the hair off a bear
And did strange things to your brain.

She went out walking one day
And too long outside did stay.
—She frosted her nose
—And some of her toes
'Cause she forgot to wear any clothes.

The cold wind then did rake her
So I thought that I should take her
—To a place much more warm
—Where no icicles form
Before she froze off her money-maker

So I took her to the nearest bar
Which wasn't really very far
—And warmed up her body
—With a whisky hot toddy
Which she drank from a Mason jar.

Now she is happy today
And says she wants to play.
—Now she's thawed out
—She wants to shout,
'Anybody for a roll in the hay? ! '
