Codependance Poem by Sean Irvine

Codependance

I step outside of myself.
Re-evaluating myself
I handed her this power over me
The power to take me down with you.
Beneath the bloods surface.
Then…you leave.
Something only she could do.
Take me underneath.
Into a place of eternal darkness.
This place, where I can’t breathe
I handed you power to do this.
And I notice my weakness in your absence.
And I’m lost without you…..

On you I once depended,
To grant me self-control.
Ultimately hindering my growth.
The beauty in life would never show.
Something only she could do.
God…She is so perfect.
Standing comfortably above the ground
I look up at her.
She refuses to look down
Codependence is now my enemy
And now I know what I must do.
Keep faith in only myself
And no longer depend on you
