City Lights Poem by Jasbir Chatterjee

City Lights

Rating: 5.0

When a shroud of darkness descends over The city after sunset,
And the street lights start glowing,
You get a sense of great relief.
For a few minutes, at least,
You can easily let yourself forget
How polluted the city really is
And wallow in the sheer joy
Of that lovely moment…

At times, we rejoice with a temporary pleasure so much so that we forget the reality, the problems that exist in practice. Thanks dear poetess for the sharing.

Very true. Anyone living in Delhi or its neighborhood can vouch for it. Sharp observation. Thanks, Jasbir ji.

agree with the poet...with the approach of Sun set, the descending darkness conceals the ascending pollution level. The twinkling street light brings respite and gives hope, though momentary and false, and with the hope of a better morning we take rest.Thank you poet.
