Beginning Of A Work Ethic Poem by RoseAnn V. Shawiak

Beginning Of A Work Ethic

Remembering being a child, pieces of what were lived through
will never be forgotten, because they have become a part of
the fabric of this being.

Watching people living their lives through the years, wonder-
ing what they're thinking as they take care of their children,
remembering when my two sons were born.

As they became toddlers, every day starting with music, danc-
ing with them, loving to hear them laugh and giggle, totally
enjoying their little lives.

Teaching them how to oil paint on canvas when they were a
year old, at five years old, teaching them how to make
scrambled eggs and toast, also how to make a sandwich.

At eleven years old teaching them how to use the washing
machine and dryer so they could wash their own clothes,
they felt so proud of themselves, smiling with pride.

Feeling useful helped them to have the beginnings of a
work ethic that can be seen now as they work, doing
everything with genuine responsibility.

Being so proud of them once again, as always, now
they're both great fathers, teaching their children
the same way they were taught.

Self-confidence and self-esteem still being intact,
enjoying seeing them as babies, now becoming Dads,
taking care of their children, unconditional love
being given every day.
