Before Poem by Aria Lei

Before

Eyes droop,
Body slouches,
Legs collapse,
I'm so tired.

I'm in a desert.
Even though it's raining,
I'm too warm,
My throat is dry,
I can't breathe in any air.

He looks at me,
I look back,
He smiles at me,
And I give him a shy smile back.

My heart flutters,
Stutters,
I gasp,
It stops.

Knees hit the ground,
I collapse,
Breath has left me.
Life is gone.

******

I float above,
I see them there,
I'm no need to breathe,
But I breathe anyway.

I smell him,
His tears,
His breath,
His sweat.

They're all swarming around me,
Scared of losing me,
When I'm already lost.

Don't bring me back.
I don't want the pain.
Don't bring me back.
I can't live that again.

*******

I'm on a hard surface
(the ground)
I'm in some kind of restraint
(your body)
My senses are dulled
(you're human, they will be)
I can't see
(you're eyes are closed) .

I open my eyes and see a billion people
above me.
I can't believe they all care this much.
'Are you alright? ' they ask,
But when I nod, they all leave.
Every last one of them,
First of all, Him.

Life really is gone now,
Though not as literally as
Before.
