Away Poem by Anna Ragin

Away

What would you think if it all went away
Disappeared into the background along with all the child’s play
If it was just you and I, in this foreign place
Nothing with us but God’s grace
In his strength we would stand together, hand in hand
And not have to answer to the world’s demand.

No pressure or expectation.
None of the turmoil that goes on in all the nations
Peace of body and mind
Strength that will not fade over time

If it all went away, would anything change
Would you think of me any differently

What would you say if it all went away
Would you tell me you loved me on a different day
That you wanted to be with me forever
Or that you and I were never meant to be together

If everything were to go away
Nothing would be the same
It would be for better or for worse
Maybe even like a curse

But whatever might happen, one thing will stay the same
I will always love you
That will never change
