Ashland, Where I Was Born Poem by Randy McClave

Ashland, Where I Was Born

From a celestial cloth we are torn
Lonely mothers somewhere always mourn,
Then into Ashland I was born.
This is where I live my life
That is where I found my wife,
Memories as pricking a finger upon a thorn.

The City it is such a beautiful place
Where I enjoy seeing a happy face,
Sometimes I walk at a slower pace.
This is where I happily live
And this is where I help and give,
It is where I relax when I am in no haste.

I like to walk into the city's park
Watching people walk and hearing dog's bark,
"Beauty" and "Serenity" is the greatest remark.
Then sometimes I will walk one of the wooded trails
As I ponder history tales,
It is peaceful and serene even after dark.

Ashland is where I watched the parades
Where I have stood and watched them for decades,
Beauty there is always seen in cascades.
There is always people with a smile
Stretching as far as a country mile,
And the memories never fades.

The Mountains they are to my rear
And the great Ohio river is forward and near,
On the river is my boats pier.
Many times I have climbed the nearby hills
And I have been on the river for excitement and thrills,
I am so thankful that God had placed me here.
