Arms

I opened up my arms,
For a friend who I admired.
I folded up my arms,
To show anger and defiance.

I crawled on all fours,
To frolic around in fun.
I spread out my arms,
To acknowledge the sun.

I ask you all to come to me,
With outspread arms.

The old year went, and the new returned, in the withering weeks of drought,
The cheque was spent that the shearer earned,
