American Eel Poem by Ima Ryma

American Eel

The Sargasso Sea, 'twixt and 'tween
North America and Europe,
Part of Atlantic Ocean scene.
There I was born, the choice came up.
Do I go East or go I West?
I headed West and found a home,
The U.S.A., somewhere I guessed.
Through the big city I did roam,
But came the time Mom Nature called.
Back to birthplace - part of the deal.
So I packed up and off I hauled,
Proud as an American Eel.

Back to roots in Sargasso Sea,
Brooklyn's been a fun place to be.
