Alone Poem by Leta Dungan

Alone

Rating: 4.5

I miss you every single day
I miss your laughter, such a sweet sound
I miss the way we used to laugh and play
but now my tears fall to the silent ground

My heart aches to see you again
I miss our walks on summers eves
To see you smile would lift my chin,
I miss when we would collect the autumn leaves

my tears fall on dry desert sands
no trees here to shade my path
no more do I get to hold your hands,
but at least you let go your wrath

To hold you in my arms again I plea
My aching heart yearns for such a chance
I wish someday, that you I will see
that my eyes may light upon you, if even for a glance

I have a hole in my heart that none but you can fill
The fault is mine and I must reap what I have sown
I should have fought for you, but I had lost my will
So now I shall spend my life alone.
