A Rainy Night Poem by Edwina Reizer

I lie on my pillow and hear the rain
falling dropp by drop.
I am restless but still I listen
and pray it will not stop.
It's a soothing sound and makes me feel
at peace within my mind.
For my day has been dry and dreary
with too many hours unkind.

The leaves are as wet as my eyes have been
and yet they must feel clean.
Perhaps they can transfer that feeling
to my rainy night time scene.
I'm still awake but the sound is gone.
The rain has ended now.
I will try again to fall asleep
without the rain somehow.
