A Hero Poem by Jeffrey Clark

A Hero

Rating: 5.0

I have been told
I am like Superman
I have been called
A hero by some
Yet even heroes
Fail and fall
They all have weaknesses
Mine is you
You have needed me
To come through
As a hero always does
To be there
To protect you
At ANY cost
Yet I cannot be
I no longer feel
Like a superhero
So as a "Superman"
I have failed you
I just hope that
One day
You'll understand
That a when a hero fails
Such as I have
That the pain is something
No "mere" mortal can comprehend
Or even begin to understand
I don't know how to protect you
But I will continue to try
As is my duty to you
I just hope
You will continue to believe
In Superman

All we can do is try, as long as we try our best then we have not failed. A great poem.
