Silent Tears Poem by Jeffrey Clark

I sit here
alone in the dark
silent tears
slowly running
down my cheeks.
I don't know why
they fall once again
like so many
other nights before.
Is it sadness
because you are not there
or because you have
left for the night
to chase your dreams
as you sleep?
Is it happiness,
because I know
you're mine
or that we share a love
written so long ago?
Or is it your beauty
That takes my breath away
with those dazzling eyes
that shine so bright
and sparkle
every time you smile.
Is it the warmth of your heart
As you hold mine so close
One I gave so freely
And you handle with care
It is not one thing
that cause these tears to fall
it is the joy in my heart
the gold in my soul
and everything else and
so very much more
I promise to love you
And cause you no pain
And stay with you forever
Just as long as you allow
These silent tears to fall.
