A Hazy October Poem by DEEPAK KUMAR PATTANAYAK

A Hazy October

Cyclonic Titli was about to descend
It was 2nd of October
Above split clouds were sailing like butterflies
And the sky looked a little bit sad and hazy
Coincidence was a consolation only
Of birth and death coming together
One of a great soul each day do we remember
Another of flesh a while ago embraced the soil
While leaving with us her loving soul
One truth was shinning brighter than the sun
Another seemed setting down and down
Never to rise again in the horizon of our low eyes
Thus reminding us the truth of timelessness
After a week of mourning
Rituals met the storm in winds and tears
And it was raining throughout
Bathing the ground and the little eyes
For the storm made the landfall with a wish
To wash them with dreams of paradise
She made her way home earlier than him
Little knowing he was dying
Lying in a bed she used to nurse and caress
Look and love innocently with a feel of divine
And he was there cold and sick
Against parched lips and starved belly
The flesh of which wished him
To conciliate and be content with for a while
Before the flames within her suddenly snuffed out
Now neither would know each other's exit
For heaven was far away to be conceived with
But for the truth
That once upon a time
They tied the knot as man and wife
