070710c Parching Lips

i wish for rain to heal dry earth
so plants would withstand heat
but it's long coming; clouds shy
my yard is bleeding me to penny
well is getting inch deep everyday
young fruits are falling so as leaves

where are birds that used to sing
they move maybe or perish too
even japanese beetles are gone
grass thinning out; stones showing
i'm thirsty; bottle of water my friend
within my reach; you too 'til it rain
