Joanie Tarr Poems

I will rather fall in love and break my heart a thousand times
Than slowly die as the Grandfather clock chimes
Don't try to destroy me anymore, I've walked away
Held my head up, packed my bags and walked away!
...

Do not weep my darling dear,
For he is no longer here.
Look to the Heavens above
And embrace the enduring Love
...

Don't tie me down with emotion
But set me free from hurt and pain.
You pull me up and push me down
Over and Over, again and again
...

The storm has passed and calmness should reign
The waters have stilled and you are released from pain.
Memories sparkle in snowflakes like a diamond
Twisting, turning, dancing, teasing, white and
...

Oh! Mr Grey I envy you…
The freedom, the power, the empty place your heart should be.
Yes, Mr Grey, I envy you…
The money, the fortune, the empty space beside you at night.
...

Like the barrage and onslaught of a tempest storm
Your words leave me battered, broken, bleeding and torn
I have become the ghost ship, empty, tattered and worn.
...

My mother holds me tight tonight
My mother holds me tight each night.
She wipes my tears when I fall,
Picks me up to reach the stars.
...

Why does it hurt so much when I say Hello
Why do you make me feel so shallow?
You took me away night and day,
Yet you never looked at me that way?
...

Ever wonder why you cry
Ever wonder of days gone by
You sit and stare up at the sky
but life is lived in time gone by.
...

The sun glimmers on the dew of dawn
Slowly as the budding bloom is born
I uncoil from my frozen desert floor
Step by step I make it to the door
...

My heart is tired, my tears are cold.
'It wasn't me' is getting old.
'I'm sorry' doesn't answer 'Why? '
It doesn't help to say 'I'll try'.
...

And so the story of my life still goes
Full of Joy, but my fair share of woes
Even though it breaks, my heart still grows
Each day I wake to challenge what life throws.
...

Can you feel my broken back?
I can't wait to hit the sack!
Tonight my brain is fried,
In desperation I have cried!
...

14.

Silver trane gly oor my wang vannag
Soos ek sit en dink aan die verlede.
Froliker tye wat ons gedeel het,
Uit sulke oomlike neem ek weer krag
...

Not one, but two Angels left this earth today,
My tears will dry, as time makes it's way.
But in my heart your smiles remain,
your laughter rings the halls of time

Get Up And Ride!

I will rather fall in love and break my heart a thousand times
Than slowly die as the Grandfather clock chimes
Don't try to destroy me anymore, I've walked away
Held my head up, packed my bags and walked away!

Picking up the pieces is never an easy thing to do
It doesn't get easier, not even after the hurt from you
You tried to hold me close, using and abusing as your glue
You never saw the strength in me, you never even had a clue!

I will rather fall in love and break my heart a thousand times
Than slowly die as the Grandfather clock chimes
Don't try to destroy me anymore, I've walked away
Held my head up, packed my bags and walked away!

I walked away by myself, to find myself and grow from inside
First things first, over you I had to decide
I walked away afraid and alone, only to find a place to reside
Now I find myself ready again, to run, to shoot and to ride!

I will rather fall in love and break my heart a thousand times
Than slowly die as the Grandfather clock chimes
Don't try to destroy me anymore, I've walked away
Held my head up, packed my bags and Said my Say!

I climbed back on and felt the freedom of air
I stopped briefly to look down on despair
I climbed back on and saw in myself a reason to care
I looked ahead and saw the future will always be fair.

I will rather fall in love and break my heart a thousand times
Than slowly die as the Grandfather clock chimes
Don't try to destroy me anymore, I've walked away
Held my head up and looked toward another Day!
