Get Up And Ride! Poem by Joanie Tarr

Get Up And Ride!

Rating: 5.0

I will rather fall in love and break my heart a thousand times
Than slowly die as the Grandfather clock chimes
Don't try to destroy me anymore, I've walked away
Held my head up, packed my bags and walked away!

Picking up the pieces is never an easy thing to do
It doesn't get easier, not even after the hurt from you
You tried to hold me close, using and abusing as your glue
You never saw the strength in me, you never even had a clue!

I will rather fall in love and break my heart a thousand times
Than slowly die as the Grandfather clock chimes
Don't try to destroy me anymore, I've walked away
Held my head up, packed my bags and walked away!

I walked away by myself, to find myself and grow from inside
First things first, over you I had to decide
I walked away afraid and alone, only to find a place to reside
Now I find myself ready again, to run, to shoot and to ride!

I will rather fall in love and break my heart a thousand times
Than slowly die as the Grandfather clock chimes
Don't try to destroy me anymore, I've walked away
Held my head up, packed my bags and Said my Say!

I climbed back on and felt the freedom of air
I stopped briefly to look down on despair
I climbed back on and saw in myself a reason to care
I looked ahead and saw the future will always be fair.

I will rather fall in love and break my heart a thousand times
Than slowly die as the Grandfather clock chimes
Don't try to destroy me anymore, I've walked away
Held my head up and looked toward another Day!
