David Adeyemo Poems

Only secret could be found
And a treasure discovered
But many mysteries are untold
Yet by no man, or people of old
...

We were three best friends
In the days when I was a child
We would play until mama calls
Until the moonlight goes to sleep
...

It happened in a second
In the twinkling of an eye
Our vessel was driven unto rock
By a strong southerly wind
...

She was young and innocent
When deceived in the closet
By one lad named Vincent
Used, abused, and molested
...

5.

Without the lips
The teeth becomes grinding stone
When the ears are cut off
The head becomes a piece of wood
...

When the sunset of our life comes
And the earth swallows us all
Termites will consume the head
And maggots, the liver…
...

Just as white cloth would longs for indigo dye
So they are crying daily on the boarder gate
For judgment they are weeping brutally
Oh God! Avenge our murder they plead
...

I walked in the wood at twilight
Before the moon reflected its satellite
When the sun was below the horizon
And the day was preparing to sleep
...

He wears rag dancing round at night
Forgetting that it will soon be morning
When the sun shall rise and shine again
Then shall he be mock by the villagers
...

There is no wright or wrong
Only what it is, and what it isn't
Neither is there a master of all
For knowledge is a wide scope
...

To the deity I have prayed
That we may meet again
So long the breath of life continues
When you return to your country
...

I arrived in the forest
I met the forest lord
He offers me bush meat
I am not here to hunt for bush meat
...

Spectators, leaders and judges
All are assembled
Well- wishers, family and friends
All are gathered to watch him
...

My fame worldwide
My house palace - like
My money spread about in banks
My friends are high calibers
...

When will I ever reach my goal!
Now or when I grow old?
The sign ahead says Road Closed
And the board behind reads No Vacant
...

Alone I walked on a littered part
A companion I seek on my journey
Saluting me was a weird man afar
Sitting inside an abandoned caravan
...

Oppressors are oppressing
Yes! The rebels are rejoicing
But the fools are dancing
For they have been indoctrinated
...

In their hand it lies
If we live or die tomorrow
Many away from home
Living the love ones alone
...

Knowledge

Only secret could be found
And a treasure discovered
But many mysteries are untold
Yet by no man, or people of old
Neither the oracles nor the gods
My worries, by them could not be solved
So I journeyed a journey to a far land

Though I sojourned in the city of knowledge
Seeking to find it for decades and ages
It is hard to get not even in the college
It may not be found in the people of age
Not freebie from a friend or heritage
Sometime, can be found in a cage

On my way back coming home
An old man I found sitting alone
Beside him I sat for a while
Just to rest before I continue the mile
But as people passed bye, none seems to care
None want to be friends for he was a low life
I honored him with a piece of bread
We ate, took a wine in the same cup
My hand he held and said…

Come! Follow me! Follow my path!
I will show you the secret of the world
I am the infinite Deity
I am knowledge
I am God
